Chapter 16
I LOOKED AT THE clock. It read 3:28 a.m. I sighed and gazed out the window. The sun wasnât even up yet. I keep waking up every hour, thinking about the look on Matthewâs face. I thought training and focusing on my homework wouldâve gotten it out of my mind. No matter what I did I couldnât get it out of my mind long enough to sleep. I wish Iâd just pass out so I could get some rest. I pulled my legs up and gripped the blanket up to my eyes. All I could do was stare and suffer with insomnia.
Micro floated over to the window. He took in the beautiful night view. You could hardly see anything in this darkness. The moonlight gently reflected off his metal, making the symbols etched in become even clearer. They were strange, but it made him look so much more advanced than ever. It was hard to think that Micro was just a machine. He seemed so⦠Human.
âItâs wonderful.â Micro said in a blissful voice. âEven without the two suns during the day like back home, the sky is just as pretty. And at night, the moon gives off a different kind of night light than what we have Sarâae but itâs beautiful. Itâs a cold river.â His eye adjusted size as he took in the view.
âIâve seen some light reflecting off the ship, but most went right through it.â I said in a sleep deprived tone.
âThe Byfolian usually adapts to its surrounding. It was probably damaged when it crashed and couldnât adjust to the moon. I hope itâs not too severe.â He sighed. The reverb in his voice made it echo around the silent room.
âThat would explain it.â I blinked my eyes slowly and curled up more into a ball. âPeter walked right through it though while I bumped into it. How does that work?â
âItâs part of the camouflage. It ensures that no one beside a Sentaen can find the ship in case someone stumbled upon it.â
âGhost mode. Cooooool.â I yawned and rolled to my side. âSarâae sounds wonderful too. You donât have any pictures of it, do you?â
âPictures? I have a camera feature, but I donât really use it to take pictures often. There should be some in the Byfolian for you to look at.â
âReally?â My enthusiasm was hidden by my groggy voice. âCan we go and see them? Well, how do we get in?â
âYou havenât gone inside yet?â He turned around to me.
I shook my head into my pillow. âNo. I could never figure out how. I found out how to kind of control the cloaking thing but thatâs about it. I didnât stay for long though. It freaked me out.â
âHmm, yes. I can show you how to enter it. Was it in hibernation?â
Like a bear? Well Micro did say he was in hibernation before my powers activated.
âHow would I know?â I sat up and streamed my fingers through my hair.
He laughed quietly. âSorry. Was it shaped like a giant egg?â
I ignored the fact that he probably dumbed it down to the lowest level.
